After reading so much <bib>Rhodes:1987</bib> and <bib>Kevles:1995</bib>, I can't stick to Suman's rule about not working too many readings into this essay. (two or three per term, two or three terms). So many different readings are coming together. Unlike those great authors, however, I worry that my argument is still to fragmented.
