The History of Science Society, begun in 1924, claims to be "the world's largest society dedicated to understanding science, technology, medicine, and their interactions with society in historical context." They have an annual conference in early November (as of 2010), participate in other events, and work with other societies. They help announce prizes and grants on their web site.
The society publishes Isis, a scholarly journal of the history of science, and Osiris, an annual publication about research in history and its effects.
The society includes special interest groups, including a forum on Earth and Environment, a women's caucus, and a caucus for graduate students and those starting a career.
